So Jeremy and I enjoyed the Ardbeg 10 year. It probably is not for the first timer just getting into single malts because it is so complex and beefy.
I like the presentation of this one. I like how it is non-chill filtered and going toward that craft oriented look. Ardbeg has gotten really popular over the last few years which is why the pricetag is going up.
We try to be as objective as possible when tasting; however, the most subjective part is the rating system. Basically we rate based on what we have tried and enjoyed thus far, and we are far from whiskey coinneseurs. We also try to consider the price in our rating, because we aint rich so we want to get the biggest bang for our buck, the American Way. I would say anything above a 7 and maybe even a 6.5 is worth trying in our opinion. Anything above an 8 is getting into what we think is really good. Anything in the 9's is where we ended up guzzling the bottle.
More than anything these posts are so we can document the things we enjoy, but we hope other folks might find them somewhat helpful and we hope to open up the wide world of single malts to those interested.
